“...an enjoyable read with a saucy, distinct Canadian flavour!”

“...holds your interest from the start to end.”

“...a marvellous storyteller.”

Synopsis:
A Canadian-American university professor beset with visions of dire things past, present and future; of death and tragedy and dark secrets hidden in the American countryside. Filled with touches of humour and personal observations of the human condition, Bequest also features a ruthless waste management firm that finds toxic garbage is gold and no damage to the environment or toll on human life is too high a price to pay for massive profits.

Remarks from Ian:
A few good friends and creative spirits were very encouraging with early versions of Bequest.

To these souls who enrich my life with their presence and friendship I offer my thanks: Rik Emmett, Keith Reid, Tom Salter, Stewart Farago and most importantly Catherine Thomas, my reality check, and I confess, a well of inspiration for much of what I do… daydreams included.

Additional early editorial input from Jane Christmas and Catherine Marjoriebanks was greatly appreciated. A special thanks to the wonderful Canadian artist Darrel Duchenes (www.dduchene.com) whose front cover graphic design, based on his etching A la Frontier, invites people so wonderfully into this book.

I have savoured Canada coast to coast through the warm amber of a single-malt with Murray McLauchlan. His presence in the Foreword to this book is particularly meaningful to this old sentimental fool, especially considering he usually gets the last word.

I would be remiss if I did not add to this list publisher/editor Michael Davie, who has been encouraging, steadfast in his support, gentle with his input, and extremely patient with my neuroses… quite a feat really!
